Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you
It’s perhaps not in our nature to make things easier for ourselves. As we work our way up the ladder work gets more intense and pressured. Expectations are high and so are salaries. We feel we should be working hard to earn that money. And to be seen to be working hard. Early mornings and late nights. First in. Last out. The twists and turns inside our bodies can make our work harder. The worry, the anxiety, the stress, the frustration, the anger, the ego and the pride. We use up all our energies on them and it drains us. We look exhausted because of these things. There was a time when even though I believed in God, I couldn’t believe that He could help with the problems I faced at work. But through my own experiences and what I read in The Bible I came to believe and trust that God had control over all situations. Nowadays, when I remember to, I give it all over to God. And when I do that it all becomes much easier. I am aware that all the issues are still there. I can’t completely forget them but knowing He’s in control can give me tremendous peace. Of course, I don’t stop doing my job. I’m not sitting back and watching. I’m just letting God work through me and work out the situation. Sometimes it doesn’t work out the way I expected or wanted to, but that’s the way it works with God. If we give it all up to Him then we have to be open to a different result to the one we planned. So today, as you head towards your place of work, give any concerns you have up to God. Let Him do the hard work. I suspect it’s quite easy for Him.
Pray with me
Heavenly Father, we ask that You take on all our burdens so we can be at peace at work today – Amen!
The Lord says, “You are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you.”
Precious is normally referred to something that’s fragile, rare or worth a lot of money. It’s not usually referred to in the context of a human being. But precious we are in God’s eyes. And so we should be to each other. In fact all of those words in Isaiah apply. That’s difficult to remember when we’re in the pressured work environment. When the deadline is close and someone hasn’t delivered the goods or simply hasn’t turned up, it’s easy to turn against them and moan about them. But before we do, let ‘s remember that people have lives outside of work. Lives full of challenges and all kinds of stress and anxieties. Mortgages to pay, bad health, children to look after and other family issues. The list goes on. Of course, I know from experience that sometimes we can get let down for no reason whatsoever. Just incompetency. But it’s good to keep an eye on our fellow workers. To ask after them if they haven’t been themselves or to offer help. It’s just us living out God’s love for us to others. That’s very precious.
Pray with me
Heavenly Father, help us to pause and make time for others. To care for them as You care for us – Amen!
‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds’
Sometimes I don’t know what to write when I’m faced with scripture like that. Because it seems so clear and simple. It was in my daily reading yesterday and I felt compelled to bring it up again today. It’s a very comforting piece of scripture. I always find it very reassuring when it comes to the business place. In the world when I can never work out why certain things happens, with all the anxieties and pressures we all face.
It is easy to get wrapped up in our problems and worries whilst still knowing about the promise that God gives us in the scripture. We forget that scripture requires action from us. It says ‘present your requests to God through prayer and petition’.And only then will the peace of God guard out hearts. So, whatever is causing you concern today lift it up to God. Blurt it out! He’s listening. Don’t keep it to yourself no matter how ridiculous it is. But remember to also give thanks!
Pray with me
Heavenly Father, we lift all of our anxieties, concerns and worries up to you. Go ahead of us to the office place so we can have peace in knowing that you are there with us so you can free us Lord from the shackles of this world – Amen!
